Clary Kent Butler, Jr. was born September 24, 1978 in Charleston , SC. to
Bishop
Clary Butler, Sr. and Mrs. Patsy S. Butler. He has two sisters, Tammy Butler Robinson
and Cora Butler.
As a young man he began his education by doing undergraduate studies at The Citadel in
Charleston , SC. and the University of South Carolina in Columbia , SC. He received his
Bachelor
of Arts degree from the University of Alabama in December 1999. While at the
University
of
Alabama he became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and was a
wide receiver for
the Orange Bowl team that won the 1999 Southeastern Conference
Championship—The Alabama Crimson Tide Football team.
He received baptism Thursday, March 2, 2000 at age 21 in Charleston , SC. Clary Butler , Jr. moved from the south to Indiana and began graduate studies at Purdue
University, in West Lafayette , IN. In 2004 he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from
Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis , IN. Accepting his call to the ministry, Clary Butler preached his initial sermon September 1, 2002. Reverend Butler received his ministerial license and began pastoring in 2003 and was ordained by the House of God Church, International in 2005.
Since moving to Indiana in 2000 Pastor Butler has served as special assistant for legislative
affairs to the Governor and established a consulting firm called the Clary Butler Company, LLC.,
which contracts with community organizations and private businesses in the areas of
governmental affairs, videography, and sports and entertainment.
